Good design is an ethical activity.

Humans are part of Nature, and their dependence upon its life-creating processes should be recognised. The long-term need for nature to have the capacity to regenerate itself and evolve should be respected, as should the fact that humans only have a partial view of these processes.

Good design enhances the environment, as well as the human spirit and need for community.

Space should be optimized rather than maximised.

The concept of waste should be eliminated, - in mature ecological systems waste becomes a resource.

Safe, non toxic objects of long-term value should be the objective.

Energy should be used efficiently and come from renewable sources.

Good design is a stimulating, creative and communal process.
