Castaway Pods

Castaway Pods

The original pods from the TV show ‘Castaway 2000’, which have been removed from the Hebrides and re-erected as part of an artist’s retreat near Glasgow. The pods were designed to withstand 12 months of highly changeable weather: their mainframes are made from solid sections of oak curved, pegged and scarfed in sections, with studs and purlins of Douglas fir.

Renewable Energy Offices, Dumfriesshire

This 20 person eco-office was designed for Natural Power, the Dumfriesshire wind-technology company. All the timber, with the exception of some pieces of oak, was sourced from within Scotland and no timber treatment was used. Exterior cladding was made from Douglas Fir with a moisture repellant coating. 2001 winner of the Association for the Protection of Rural Scotland's ‘Creative, Native and Innovative’ award.
