Should you step away from your the computer, put on a high vis and get on the tools?

Jamie McCallum and Joshua Brown are young SEDA directors who have been working on several live build projects across Scotland.

Jamie will present his involvement of live building, from a student’s perspective and how this impacted his experience in practice but his studies too.

He will discuss the benefits of participating in work on site and the invaluable skills you develop from numerous challenges that can arise. Jamie will close with a debate about the future of architectural education and the role which live building or hands-on experience should play.

Joshua Brown has been involved in a number of community self-build projects and has led hands-on construction skills training for community development trusts and for community empowerment. His interests include community self-build, social and community aspects of sustainability and timber design and build.

Tickets are free but there will be a collection for drinks and refreshments and towards SEDA on the night.
