Architecture student links to Pakistan

Main article image

SEDA member Linda Forbes writes to tell us that one of her fellow CAT MSc alumni, Magnus, is currently working in Pakistan with the Department for International Development, where he is trying to build-up relationships between students in the UK and the local architecture students in Pakistan who are really keen on sustainable building. He thought there could be scope for theses on issues such as the following which need research:

- thermal comfort of these houses compared to others built last year with brick (i.e. thin walls with asummer heat of 50+ degrees).

- test water resistance of the lime-earth walls (test cells etc)

- investigate durability of foundations.

She has asked that any members who know of students who'd be interested in topics such as these, or who have suggestions as to who might be worth contacting with this request will get in touch withher by email at linda@scribbilib.info
